Who is ICID?
Established in 1950 ICID is the leading scientific, technical and not-for-profit non-government organisation (NGO). ICID, through its network of professionals spread across more than a hundred countries, has facilitated sharing of experiences and transfer of water management technology for over half-a-century. ICID supports capacity development, stimulates research and innovation and strives to promote policies and programs to enhance sustainable development of irrigated agriculture through a comprehensive water management framework.

The purpose of the ICID Australian National Committee is to support the mission of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage within Australia by promoting sustainable agricultural water management practices. The committee acts as the liaison between Irrigation Australia and the ICID, managing Australia's involvement in ICID's global activities and events. This includes overseeing submissions for awards, reviewing technical materials for ICID events in Australia, and fostering educational advancements in irrigation and drainage.
