Who we are
Who is Irrigation Australia?
Irrigation Australia Ltd was founded in 2007, following the merger of ANCID and the Irrigation Association of Australia (IAA). From 1983 to 2007 IAA was the industry peak body for the Australian irrigation industry and ANCID was the Australian representative of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID).
Irrigation Australia is an apolitical association and is Australia’s peak national organisation representing the Australian irrigation industry in all sectors from water users, consultants, designers and installers through to educational institutions, government, manufacturers and retailers.
As a not-for-profit association, Irrigation Australia operates on a membership basis
Our national office is located in Brisbane, with a regional office in Perth. Additionally, we are a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 91313), offering a diverse range of nationally accredited irrigation qualifications, workshops, and short courses.
Our Purpose
To be the centre of excellence for efficient irrigation practices across the food and fibre production markets, leisure activity spaces and commercial activities to ensure the best use of our most precious resource.

Our Ambition

We will accomplish this by

- Ensuring our members have the most up to date information, tools and policy to give best practice advise to their customers and communities.
- Delivering local efficiency initiatives through supporting and engaging local and regional committees and utilising their depth and breadth of knowledge to advance efficiency at ground level.
- Advocating best practice irrigation efficiency to policy makers through sound best practice policy development and distribution.
Strategic Plan
This plan is an evolving and living document. It will be under constant review with a view to ensuring it is meeting contemporary needs as they develop and as milestones are met. It is not a set and forget document, it serves as both strategic guide and cornerstone document for Irrigation Australia Board and management, as an evolving work plan. The Strategic Plan will be reviewed by the Board on an annual basis and reported on at the Annual General Meeting. The Chair and CEO will report on progress against KPIs and goals and present a progress report to members at the Annual General Meeting.
