Course Overview
This non-accredited online micro-credential (2 half days of training) provides participants with essential foundational skills to confidently commence fieldwork or customer interactions under supervision. With a strong emphasis on water, pumps, and energy efficiency, the course offers practical maintenance techniques aimed at reducing waste, increasing productivity, and lowering operational costs.
Benefits include a foundation-level set of skills/ awareness to make the selection of future skills development better informed. For employers, it is designed to give new employees a basic knowledge, ready for their first trips into the field or interaction with customers, under supervision.
Delivered online over two-half days by our Senior Trainer & Assessor, participants will also have the opportunity to discuss future career development.
Learning Outcomes
- Be able to diagnose and repair common irrigation system issues, such as leaks, pressure imbalances, pump failures, and controller malfunctions
- Understand how to identify opportunities to improve water, pump, and energy efficiency, leading to reduced operating costs and environmental impact
- Understand the practical skills required to perform seasonal adjustments, ensuring systems run efficiency throughout the year
- Be equipped to conduct regular maintenance checks to prevent long-term damage and ensure system longevity
Who is this course for?
This course is ideal for new employees in irrigation businesses within Queensland, Australia, who are looking to build foundational skills. It’s also suitable for anyone seeking an introduction to irrigation efficiency and practical skills, with opportunities for further development in the industry.
Entry Requirements
Eligible participants must:
- Be aged 15 years of age or over
- Not be a school student
- Permanently reside in Queensland
- Be an Australian citizen, or a New Zealand citizen, or hold an eligible visa as identified by the Queensland Government, Department of Trade, Employment and Training: click here for more information
- Meet any additional eligibility requirements identified through approved program projects. The following individuals are NOT eligible participants for the program unless approved by the Department prior to commencement:
- Employees of the Supplier;
- Employees of government departments and government agencies, not including local councils; or
- Apprentices and Trainees as defined in the Further Education and Training Act 2014.
