New training format unlocks more flexibility and opportunity
We've recently implemented some changes to the way we deliver training to help meet minimum numbers and reduce the risk of cancellations/postponements. This means, in some instances, delivering short courses alongside the Certificate III in Irrigation Technology. The benefits? You'll have the opportunity to train alongside others from across the industry - gaining insights, sharing experiences, and building valuable professional networks.
Delivered by qualified trainers and industry experts, these practical, hands-on courses are designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed - whether you're starting out, looking to grow, or aiming to stay ahead in a growing and essential industry.
The cost-effective Irrigation Installer short course includes 6 units to give you a fantastic set of practical skills delivered over 4 days, and a taste of the full trade-equivalent Certificate III qualification.
The Electrofusion & Butt Welding short course is delivered over 2 days face-to-face in the final block of training for the Certificate III. It’s designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to weld polyethylene pipes using both electrofusion and butt welding techniques - a valuable skillset to have. 3. Only 4 spots left for WA’s first member event of 2025!
Irrigation Australia is delighted to invite our Western Australian members to join us for our first member event of 2025, set against the stunning backdrop of the University of Western Australia (UWA), a campus renowned for its heritage-listed gardens and leadership in sustainability and research.
Join us for a morning of networking over breakfast and coffee on Thursday, 29 May, followed by a deep dive into UWA’s cutting-edge irrigation project featuring automated mixed effluent and freshwater technology.
This unique event will showcase the planning, design, and implementation of the system, with expert insights from key stakeholders including Western Irrigation, Aquamonix, and UWA. 4. Strong start for new Irrigation Efficiency & Practical Skills Micro-credential
This week, we officially launched our Irrigation Efficiency and Practical Skills Micro-credential with a full class of 12 participants kicking off training on Tuesday, 20th May. Designed specifically for Queenslanders, this fully funded online course is helping new industry entrants build confidence, develop practical skills, and prepare for their first supervised fieldwork or customer interactions.
Delivered over two engaging half-days, the course focuses on foundational knowledge in water, pumps, and energy efficiency, with hands-on maintenance techniques to support productivity, reduce waste, and lower operational costs. Participants also had the opportunity to explore future career development with our experienced Senior Trainer & Assessor, Stuart Alexander.
This non-accredited micro-credential is ideal for:
- New starters in irrigation
- Employers wanting to upskill entry-level staff
- Anyone exploring a future in water management or irrigation
While it’s an introductory course, it provides a valuable head start and helps participants make better-informed decisions about their next training steps.
Next intake scheduled for 22 - 23 July
With the first session now complete and a growing waitlist, we’re thrilled to confirm our next intake is scheduled for 22 - 23 July, and spots are already filling fast.
Thanks to generous Queensland Government funding, this course is currently available for just $110 incl. GST, and we’re aiming to run it monthly for the next 10 months.
